I am happy to sign books at live events. You can either bring a book to be signed or buy a copy there.
I cannot have any books shipped to me to be signed, so live events are your best chance to get a signed copy!

This book is available in North America (US and Canada) and UK editions are also available.

Not yet. But, I am self-published and will consider other translations based on the volume of demand.

Why are there 3 different children in the book instead of one main character?

When I first wrote the book, I imagined a little girl as the sole main character. But, I quickly realized there are already so many black children’s book that featured little girls. It became important to me that the story had a black boy, a black girl, and a mixed-race child. So the final book features 3 different children, interacting with 3 different parental figures.

​Why did you choose to include affirmations in this story?

When I initially wrote the book, I only include a couple of affirmations. However, the more I read and re-read the book, it became clear that adding more affirmations would give the reader a breather and allow them to look inside themselves by saying the affirmations out loud at various points throughout the book.

Why did you select these specific affirmations?

It was important for me to have affirmations that represented 4 areas: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. The affirmations needed to highlight external beauty, internal beauty, good moral character, integrity, and self-worth

What the significance of the image of children protesting?

Accepted Answer

I think it is important to show that boldness can come from little children. It takes bravery and boldness to stand for what right. That bravery can come in different ages and different sizes, big or small.

Why was it important to include a grandparent?

In the parental roles, it was important for me to include a father, a mother and a grandparent. Many black children are either raised by their grandparents, or the grandparents are very influential in their upbringing
